U.S. President Donald J. Trump is confronting and discussing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in ways that only he can (Ambassador Comment: Meaning neither confronting nor discussing.) In a recent interview, aired on the Public Broadcast System (PBS), Trump claimed that the only guardrail the U.S needs regarding this and other matters of state is “me as president.” And in this case, he proclaims that “me as president” believes that no government intervention is warranted, that tech companies must forge ahead aggressively so as not to fall behind AI development in other countries, because “whoever wins AI, wins.”

Per the Los Angeles Times and multiple other news sources, at a campaign rally in Grand Island, Nebraska, on 5 OCTOBER 2026, U.S. President Donald J. Trump suggested “letting Iran ‘take out’ Los Angeles and San Diego.” He actually used those words. And, the crowd actually cheered. He had been talking about the Iran War, and he noted that letting an adversary attack Los Angeles or San Diego was something that could be part of the cost of the war with Iran.

On Friday, 18 September 2026, Donald Trump banned CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House and its grounds, claiming, with no evidence, that that these publications are publishing “fake news” and “reporting fiction and lies.” The White House deactivated press credentials for each of those organizations, barring the reporters from any and all access. All three press organizations filed a lawsuit seeking to restore their access and the other major television networks suspended their shared pool coverage in solidarity. In response to the lawsuit, the DC District Court issued an order directing the White House to let the press in. As of 11:30 AM on the 24th of September, the White House had not yet complied. The court scheduled a hearing for noon.(Ambassador Comments: Most legal scholars consider this an outrageous breach of the US Constitution’s First Amendment. That the major news outlets stood firmly with the three outlets which had been banned should give American people some faith in the Fourth Estate’s commitment to the Constitution. This is a serious moment, their action demonstrates to the American people how to respond.

On August 6, 2026, in a vote led by Kentucky GOP Senator, Ophthalmologist and prominent anti-vaxxer Senator Dr. Rand Paul, the Senate Homeland Security Committee held Dr. Anthony Fauci in contempt of Congress. Senator Dr. Paul then bypassed a full Senate vote to refer the contempt finding directly to the Justice Department for potential prosecution. This action followed a highly touted, extended, and contentious Congressional hearing on July 29, also led by Senator Dr. Paul, that focused on Fauci’s role in the first Trump administration during the COVID pandemic that began 6 years ago. In the hearing, Fauci, on the advice of his attorney, took the Fifth Amendment some 111 times, invoking his right to remain silent and not answer any questions. Aware of Senator Dr. Paul’s apparent fixation on Fauci’s COVID role, Fauci was concerned that the questions being posed by Senator Dr. Paul and his Republican cohorts might be intended to catch Fauci in perjury.

Per the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), an American nonprofit, private public media enterprise, in mid July 2026, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced his decision to screen service members over 30 years of age for testosterone.

From February 2026 through March 2026, Donald Trump’s second term has been marked by a mix of legislative pushes, executive actions, policy shifts, and highly choreographed rhetoric designed to solidify last year’s trend towards authoritarianism in the form of centralized, personalized presidential power The White House frames this period as one of “historic progress,” claiming Trump has made “more progress in three weeks than they made in four years,” restored American “respect,” and delivered “record‑low” border encounters. From the outside, it looks more like a broad stress test on the US system: a deliberate effort to weaken the administrative state, use migration and crime as political organizing tools, weaponize tariffs and energy policy, and redefine the relationship between the presidency, federal agencies, and the law.

It seems likely that there has been a change in the attitudes of the citizens of the United States and Europe toward U.S. President Trump. Since the beginning of the year 2026, and especially since the first of Trump’s “immigration fraud” terrorist raids on Minnesota and its citizens, more Americans have seen Trump’s paramilitary troops, disguised as ICE Enforcement and Deportation officers, as they really are: there’s no romanticizing what saviors they are; there’s no widespread admiration for whatever they have accomplished. Even previously wholly Trump-admiring members of the US media, Joe Rogan comes to mind, have seen and remarked upon the Gestapo-esque tactics, goals, and even attire of Kristi Noem’s goon squad. American audiences can see, in real time and recorded by real people, the work of a whole lot of men, and it appears they are mostly or all men and mostly or all White, carrying out the Trump/Noem ethnic cleansing of a state that did not ever vote for Trump. Despite Trump’s saying that, “I feel that I won Minnesota. I think I won it all three times,” he never won Minnesota. Not ever.

On January 3, 2026, U.S. forces launched “Operation Absolute Resolve,” a large-scale military operation against Caracas, Venezuela, and captured and kidnapped Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. The President and his wife were taken from their Caracas residence and flown to Brooklyn, New York, in the United States to await trial on charges of drug trafficking and terrorism. The operation involved extensive aerial strikes and special forces, killing some 80 Venezuelan citizens. President Trump announced that the U.S. would manage a transition period in Venezuela and would “run” Venezuela. (Ambassador Comment: There is no doubt that Maduro is a vile human being and a terrible leader who tortures and extorts his own citizens. There is, however, also no doubt that his kidnapping does not comport with international law, that Trump acted unilaterally within his own government, and that it appears that Trump and his merry men had and have no actual plans for “running” or rebuilding Venezuela. Also, there is little doubt that Maduro’s removal leaves the embattled citizens of Venezuela no better off than they were under Maduro.)
