THE STEADY STATE ENDORSES JILL TOKUDA FOR HAWAII’S 2ND CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT
WASHINGTON — The Steady State, an organization of more than 420 former national security, intelligence, diplomatic, military, law enforcement, and homeland security officials, today endorsed Hon. Jill Tokuda for Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District.
Jill Tokuda represents Hawaii’s Second Congressional District and is running for reelection. She earned her degree in International Relations from George Washington University before serving in the Hawaii State Senate from 2006 to 2018, chairing the Ways and Means Committee and managing the state’s $14 billion budget. She also co-directed CyberHawaii, served as External Affairs Director at the Nisei Veterans Memorial Center, and helped manage the distribution of more than $21 billion in federal COVID-19 relief funds for Hawaii. In Congress, she serves on the House Agriculture and Armed Services Committees and the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Jill Tokuda demonstrates a consistent commitment to the rule of law, supports nonpartisan oversight and accountability of the Executive Branch, exhibits a substantive understanding of the national security challenges facing the country, and upholds the democratic norms and ethical standards of public service that the organization’s criteria require.
“We’re proud to stand behind Jill Tokuda, whose candidacy reflects the kind of steady, institution-minded leadership this moment demands,” said Steven Cash, Executive Director of The Steady State.
