Phil Ehr (FL-28)

WASHINGTON — The Steady State, an organization of more than 450 former national security, intelligence, diplomatic, military, law enforcement, and homeland security officials, today endorsed Commander (Ret.) Phil Ehr for Florida’s 28th Congressional District.

Phil Ehr is running to represent Florida’s Twenty-Eighth Congressional District after a 26-year career in the U.S. Navy. Ehr began his service as an enlisted sailor and ultimately retired as a Commander. His career included reconnaissance missions during the Cold War, combat support during Desert Storm, and senior operational responsibilities during NATO’s Operation Allied Force. He also served in NATO’s Joint Electronic Warfare Core Staff, including as its Deputy Director and senior U.S. officer. Since retiring from the Navy, Ehr has remained active in national-security and democracy-focused work, including founding an organization focused on countering disinformation and participating in humanitarian missions to Ukraine.

Phil Ehr demonstrates a consistent commitment to the rule of law, supports nonpartisan oversight and accountability of the Executive Branch, exhibits a substantive understanding of the national security challenges facing the country, and upholds the democratic norms and ethical standards of public service that the organization's criteria require.

"Our members know, from firsthand experience, what it costs to defend institutions under pressure. We see that same willingness in Phil Ehr," said Steven Cash, Executive Director of The Steady State.
