Endorsements
2026 Candidates
The Steady State endorses candidates for Congress, Governor, and other national-security-relevant offices who show a consistent commitment to the rule of law regardless of party, support nonpartisan oversight of the Executive Branch, and understand the security challenges facing the country. Endorsed candidates must also uphold democratic norms — the peaceful transfer of power, rejection of political violence, and defense of civil liberties including a free press and the right to dissent. The Steady State does not endorse candidates who have worked to subvert democratic institutions, discredited the security community without evidence, or promoted disinformation or extremism.
Jack Reed (RI)
Jack Reed represents Rhode Island in the U.S. Senate and running for re-election. Before joining the Senate spent a decade in New Castle County local government after working as an attorney for W.L. Gore & Associates and earning degrees from Amherst College, Yale Law School, and Yale Divinity School. In the Senate, he serves on the Appropriations, Foreign Relations, Judiciary, and Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committees. He is a Ranking Member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, where he works on national security funding and oversight for U.S. troops and defense programs.
Gabe Amo (RI-01)
Gabe Amo represents Rhode Island’s First Congressional District, first elected in 2023. He worked in the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs under President Obama, served as Director of Public Engagement and Community Affairs for Governor Gina Raimondo, and returned to the White House as Deputy Director of the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs and Special Assistant to President Biden. In Congress, Amo serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, including its Subcommittees on Europe and East Asia and the Pacific, and several other committees and sub committees.
Seth Magaziner (RI-02)
Seth Magaziner represents Rhode Island’s Second Congressional District and is running for reelection. He began his career as a public school teacher before serving eight years as Rhode Island’s General Treasurer. He was elected to Congress in 2022, where he has focused on lowering costs, defending democracy, and fighting government corruption, including introducing legislation to ban members of Congress from trading stocks. He serves on the House Homeland Security Committee, where he works on cybersecurity, and combating extremism. He also serves on the House Natural Resources Committee, focused on protecting Rhode Island’s coastline and fisheries.
