Adam Smith (WA-09)
WASHINGTON — The Steady State, an organization of more than 420 former national security, intelligence, diplomatic, military, law enforcement, and homeland security officials, today endorsed Hon. Adam Smith for Washington’s 9th Congressional District.
Adam Smith represents Washington’s Ninth Congressional District and is one of the House’s most experienced defense policymakers. He previously served as Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee and currently serves as its Ranking Member. His work encompasses defense strategy, military readiness, acquisition, alliances, nuclear policy, force structure, and congressional oversight of the Department of Defense.
Adam Smith demonstrates a consistent commitment to the rule of law, supports nonpartisan oversight and accountability of the Executive Branch, exhibits a substantive understanding of the national security challenges facing the country, and upholds the democratic norms and ethical standards of public service that the organization’s criteria require.
“We believe Adam Smith understands the stakes of this moment as clearly as our members do and that understanding is exactly why we’re endorsing him,” said Steven Cash, Executive Director of The Steady State.
