THE STEADY STATE ENDORSES GIL CISNEROS FOR CALIFORNIA’S 31ST CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT
WASHINGTON — The Steady State, an organization of more than 420 former national security, intelligence, diplomatic, military, law enforcement, and homeland security officials, today endorsed Gil Cisneros for California’s 31st Congressional District.
Gil Cisneros is running to represent California’s 31st District again. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy after high school on an ROTC scholarship, earning his B.A. in Political Science from George Washington University, an MBA from Regis University, and an M.A. in Urban Education Policy from Brown University. He represented California’s 39th District in Congress in 2019, and in 2021, he was appointed Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness and the military’s Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, where he led the Pentagon’s new reproductive healthcare policy for service members and reforms to military sexual assault and harassment guidelines.
Gil Cisneros demonstrates a consistent commitment to the rule of law, supports nonpartisan oversight and accountability of the Executive Branch, exhibits a substantive understanding of the national security challenges facing the country, and upholds the democratic norms and ethical standards of public service that the organization’s criteria require.
