THE STEADY STATE ENDORSES JENNIFER MCCLELLAN FOR VIRGINIA’S 4TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT
WASHINGTON — The Steady State, an organization of more than 420 former national security, intelligence, diplomatic, military, law enforcement, and homeland security officials, today endorsed Hon. Jennifer McClellan for Virginia's 4th Congressional District.
Jennifer McClellan represents Virginia’s 4th Congressional District. Born in Petersburg to parents who worked as educators at Virginia State University and community leaders in the Tri-Cities area, she was raised with a strong sense of servant leadership and a commitment to using government as a force for progressive change. In the Virginia General Assembly, she passed more than 370 pieces of legislation, including landmark bills expanding voting rights, combating climate change, and strengthening workers' protections. In Congress, she serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and previously served on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee.
Jennifer McClellan demonstrates a consistent commitment to the rule of law, supports nonpartisan oversight and accountability of the Executive Branch, exhibits a substantive understanding of the national security challenges facing the country, and upholds the democratic norms and ethical standards of public service that the organization's criteria require.
"Too often, candidates talk about defending democracy in the abstract. Jennifer McClellan has shown what that commitment looks like in practice," said Steven Cash, Executive Director of The Steady State.
