Jimmy Panetta (CA-19)
WASHINGTON — The Steady State, an organization of more than 420 former national security, intelligence, diplomatic, military, law enforcement, and homeland security officials, today endorsed Hon. Jimmy Panetta for California’s 19th Congressional District.
Jimmy Panetta represents California’s 19th District, running for reelection. He began his legal career in 1996 as a prosecutor for the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office, later serving as a Deputy District Attorney in Monterey County prosecuting violent gang members. In 2003, he was commissioned as an Intelligence Officer with the U.S. Navy Reserve and deployed with a Special Operations task force to Afghanistan, earning the Bronze Star for meritorious service in a combat zone. In Congress, he serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means and the House Committee on Budget.
Jimmy Panetta demonstrates a consistent commitment to the rule of law, supports nonpartisan oversight and accountability of the Executive Branch, exhibits a substantive understanding of the national security challenges facing the country, and upholds the democratic norms and ethical standards of public service that the organization’s criteria require.
